Sailing Yacht Surveys

YACHT  SURVEYS FOR SAILING BOATS – Our scope of work

We carry out all types of surveys, the most popular being pre-purchase.

Buying a boat is an exciting time and you can get caught up in the romance of it all. Our role is to  assist you in the purchase, look at the boat without the rose tinted specs and help you deciding if you want to proceed with the purchase, bearing in mind the valuation and condition of the craft that you are considering.

Matt West has been in the sailing industry since 1985, working on small yachts as engineer and skipper and then working with yacht builders on the specifications of sailing boats, checking the construction in the factory and working with the owners and operators over the life of the boats reviewing what works and what doesn’t. He is well qualified to help you through the purchase of your used boat. Normally you would be welcome to attend , but currently that is not possible unless for a brief period.

Matt West, Boat Surveyors,  MAJORITY of the focus is on the structural condition of the hull and deck and fabrication plus items relating to the safe use of the boat. We go through the boat, into every locker, nook and cranny and inspect everything, and then we  provide a detailed written report on the condition of the craft. We will then discuss any aspect of the report to ensure you understand what has been written. Nautical and technical terms are restricted or tailored to you personally.
