Matt West of Marine Surveys UK was recently contracted to oversee the loading and stowing of a brand new 42 Patrol power boat bound for India. Cory Logistics contacted Matt to act as the owners eyes and ears during the assembly of the cradle, the lifting of the Interceptor from sea to cradle and then the stowing of the boat into the hold of the container ship MV Bellini at Southampton West Docks.
The boat had been motored on its own bottom from Cork and was then moored at Southampton Town Quay before being brought around to the docks. It was the first time Matt had been involved directly in a project like this although he has had experience of shipping dozens of ships to and from the Caribbean while Operations Director at Sunsail. He said;
“It was a great experience and all went smoothly although it did involve 3 separate trips to the docks over 4 days during the weekend and a lot of hanging around to complete the operation”
