I have never used the same surveyor twice – principally because I considered each surveyor to have his own area of particular interest/expertise such that over the 25 years we have owned our Southerly 105 and 5off insurance surveys all areas would have been examined. Whilst searching the web I viewed the Marine Surveys UK website and was impressed by the logo “Pragmatic Surveys in Plain English” this led me to reading the reviews all of which I found to be positive. Having completed the preliminaries with Matt West and agreed for the survey to be conducted in 3 months time at the end of the 2015 refit upon lifting the boat out for the winter the “Skipper’s” assessment of the growing refit list required that the survey should be brought forward to “as soon as possible” to enable underwriters time to review the Survey Report. Matt duly responded and carried out the survey at short notice. The survey was conducted in a thorough and professional manner. All areas and systems were inspected and some of the defects discovered whilst initially alarming truly required immediate attention for future peace of mind. Matt was particularly helpful in not only identifying defects but also explaining how they should be rectified in a manner I could understand. The Survey Report was received a few days after the survey and was accepted by underwriters. The bottom line – Matt West has a broad knowledge of boat construction and systems I will be asking Matt to conduct the next survey and have no reservations in recommending him to my fellow sailing club members- Member Marchwood Yacht Club 2015
